Ahmed Elshaer

Mr Ahmed Elshaer is a General and Upper GIConsultant Surgeon at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Heworks in endoscopy department at Livingcare since 2021. He specializes inOesophagogastric cancer and Bariatric surgery. He performs all range ofminimally invasive keyhole surgery including gallbladder surgery, biliarysurgery, hernias, acid reflux surgery, diaphragmatic hernias, weight losssurgery (Bariatric) and oesophagogastric cancer surgery. He also performs UpperGI endoscopy for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. He also offers roboticsurgery to wide range of complex Upper GI cases.

Mr Elshaer began his training in generalsurgery in 2010. During his training, he completed two fellowships inBirmingham and Hull. He had extensive training in Oesophagogastric cancer andbariatric surgery. He had performed numerous numbers of minimally invasivesurgeries in Upper GI Surgery. He completed his training in robotic surgery andperformed numerous robotic cases. He had also wide exposure in othersubspecialities as hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation. Mr Elshaerworked also as Upper GI consultant surgeon in Leeds and Brighton before movingto Bradford.

Mr Elshaer gained his PhD during histraining from Cairo University where he graduated from. He is also a lecturerat Cairo University. He published many researches in peer-reviewed journals andparticipated in many national and global studies. He is a reviewer in manyhigh-impact journals. He had many presentations in national and internationalmeetings.

He is participating in numerouseducational courses and believes in the importance of training and teaching tojunior doctors. He is a recognised trainer by GMC and is a faculty at the RoyalCollege of Surgeons of England in many courses. He also has faith of the valueof governance process and he was appointed as governance lead for generalsurgery in his different placements through his career.
