Andrew Cockbain

Mr Cockbain is a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgeon.  He completed surgical training in Yorkshire, before undertaking advanced training in minimally invasive (keyhole) and robotic surgery in Australia, Germany and Belgium. He has pioneered the introduction of robotic surgery for weight loss, acid reflux, and cancer treatment in Leeds.

Acid reflux and hiatus hernias

Mr Cockbain will take the time to discuss your symptoms and the impact on your quality of life before recommending which investigations and treatments you should consider. An endoscopy is usually the first step to get more information.

Weight loss

Mr Cockbain is an experienced weight-loss surgeon and an integral member of the Leeds weight-loss multi-disciplinary team.  He offers a full range of surgical and non-surgical treatments to help patients lose weight.  These include:

Research

Mr Cockbain is actively involved in delivering several large UK trials. These include new surgical techniques and treatments to improve patient outcomes, and novel methods to monitor patients after surgery to improve quality of life. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and presented his work nationally and internationally.
