Blood Profiling

Overview

What is blood profiling?

Blood profiling analyses biomarkers related to training, nutrition, and recovery, helping you or your players perform at their best.

How Blood Profiling Works

Experts determine nutrient levels and deficiencies, hormone levels, oxidative stress, and inflammation by analysing a blood sample. With this information, athletes understand how to improve endurance and energy and optimise recovery. Regular blood test data helps monitor performance and gives insight into how to adapt training load and nutrition.

What to expect from Blood Profiling

You’ll be seated at your appointment while a healthcare professional takes a small amount of your blood. Depending on the test, the blood is taken from the inside of your elbow, finger, or wrist. If your veins are not showing well, the healthcare professional may place a strap around your arm.

If you are prone to fainting, let the healthcare provider know. You may be invited to lie down for the blood draw.

You’ll feel a sharp scratch as the needle goes in. After the test, you’ll be given a plaster to cover the area.

The sample will be sent to the lab, and the results will be with you in 24-48 hours.

Risks and complications of Blood Profiling

Blood profiling is a safe test. There is a possibility of the following effects:

  • Bleeding and bruising at the needle site
  • Swelling
  • Fainting or feeling faint
  • Infection (rare)

How to recover following Blood Profiling

You may wish to sit down in the waiting area after the test if you feel faint or dizzy.
