Overview

What is Nose Treatment?

Nose treatment at The LivingCare Group provides relief and management for nasal and sinus conditions, including blockages, allergies, and infections. Our dedicated ENT specialists offer treatments tailored to each patient’s needs, improving breathing, reducing discomfort, and managing recurring issues.

Conditions Treated with Nose Treatment

Our nose treatment addresses various nasal issues, including:

  • Management of nosebleeds (epistaxis) to reduce frequency and intensity
  • Treatment for nasal obstruction and polyps, which can impact breathing
  • Rhinitis and rhinosinusitis, including chronic allergy management
  • Sinusitis, an inflammation of the sinuses causing congestion and pain
  • Snoring solutions to help improve sleep quality
  • Allergy testing to identify triggers for nasal symptoms

How Nose Treatment Works

The consultant begins with a detailed nasal examination using a speculum and headlight to check the front of the nasal passages. For a closer look, a nasendoscope, a flexible camera, may be inserted into the nasal cavity after administering a local anaesthetic spray for comfort. This allows for a thorough view of nasal structures and potential blockages.

What to Expect During Your Nose Treatment

  • Before the Appointment: There’s no need for fasting or other preparation, but bring details of any medications you take.
  • During the Appointment: The consultant may use a nasendoscope to inspect your nasal passages. If allergy testing is needed, small samples may be taken from the nasal lining.
  • After the Appointment: If you experience mild nasal discomfort, you can use saline sprays to ease irritation. Most patients can resume regular activities immediately.

Risks and Complications of Nose Treatment

Risks are uncommon but may include:

  • Temporary discomfort or irritation in the nasal passages
  • Rarely, a nosebleed following examination or minor treatment

How to Recover Following Nose Treatment
Recovery is usually swift, with minor discomfort fading quickly. Use saline sprays or humidifiers if your nose feels dry or irritated post-treatment.
