OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) is a non-invasive imaging test that provides detailed images of the retina and eye structures
What is OCT?
OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) is a non-invasive imaging test that provides detailed images of the retina and eye structures. It is commonly used to diagnose and monitor conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
OCT scans can significantly enhance eye health management by offering:
• Early detection of eye conditions.
• Accurate monitoring of disease progression.
• Clear, detailed imaging for effective treatment planning.
How OCT Works
A beam of light scans the retina to create a high-resolution image of all of its layers. These images can then be used to assess the health of the eye and identify any anomalies. OCT is quick, painless, and non-invasive, making it a comfortable and straightforward diagnostic process.
What to Expect When Having OCT
Before: A consultation with our ophthalmologist will give you the opportunity to discuss your vision concerns and explain the purpose of the scan.
During: The procedure takes only a few minutes. You will sit in front of the OCT machine and focus on a target while the scan is performed.
After: Results are reviewed immediately, and any findings will be discussed to guide treatment or monitoring.
Risks and Complications of OCT
OCT is an extremely safe procedure with no known risks or side effects. As it is non-invasive, there is no discomfort or downtime.
